January industrial production slightly increases
Vietnam’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) up 0.6% year-on-year.
Vietnam’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in January rose 0.6% year-on-year, but down 9.2% compared to the previous month, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
The manufacturing and processing sector surged 1.6% year-on-year, electricity production and distribution increased 0.4%, and water supply and sewerage and waste management and remediation activities surged 9.2% while mining dropped 10.4%.
Forty-seven of the total 63 centrally - run cities and province recorded an increase in the IIP in the month, while 16 recorded declines.
Some localities have seen a fairly high increase in the IIP due to a sharp increase in the processing and manufacturing industry including Nam Dinh (29.9%), Bac Kan (28.5%), Ben Tre (24.2%), and Hai Phong (16.3%).
The GSO also reported that the number of workers working in industrial enterprises as of January 1, 2025, increased by 0.2% compared to the same time last month and 4.5% year-on-year.
