Vietnam's 2024 unemployment rate drops to 2.24%
Some 1.06 million working-age people were unemployed.
The unemployment rate among working-age population in Vietnam dropped to 2.24% in 2024, equal to some 1.06 million individuals, figures from the General Statistics Office (GSO) show.
The figure represents a decrease of 9,000 unemployed people compared to 2023.
The unemployment rate in urban area was kept under 3%.
As of the end of 2024, the country’s workforce aged 15 and above was 53 million people, up 575,400 year-on-year. This includes 28.25 million males and 24.69 million females, up 383,500 and 191,900 year-on-year, respectively.
The GSO also reported that the 2024 average monthly income of contracted workers was VND7.7 million ($304), a year-on-year increase of VND610,000 ($24).
