Ho Chi Minh City has decided to earmark over VND7 trillion ($304 million) from its budget for infrastructure and equipment at healthcare units in the 2021-2030 period.

This is part of a resolution adopted by the tenth municipal People’s Council at its tenth meeting, held on September 19.

Under the plan, over VND1.49 trillion ($62 million) will be invested in purchasing medical equipment for the Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital, more than VND1.36 trillion ($56.6 million) for the Cu Chi Regional General Hospital, and VND1.45 trillion ($60 million) for the Thu Duc Regional General Hospital.

The People’s Council also gave the green light to projects building new infrastructure and purchasing medical equipment for 17 medical facilities.

In a context of blood shortages at medical establishments, the Council also approved investment of nearly VND700 billion ($29.1 million) in building a blood bank. The project will be implemented from 2023 to 2026.
