Chu Lai Port developing trade services
Chu Lai Port in central Quang Nam province - the gateway to trade in goods in the central region - is promoting trade services in bulk cargo. To improve its competitiveness and become a hub for domestic and international trade, the port has upgraded its infrastructure, built logistics solutions, and invested in specialized equipment and technology.

Mekong Tourism Forum opens in Quang Nam
With the theme “Reconstruction of the tourism industry, resilient tourism recovery”, the 2022 Mekong Tourism Forum (MTF) opened on October 12 in central Quang Nam province, attracting more than 250 delegates from the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and representatives from international tourism organizations and from Vietnam. First held in 1996, the MTF is an annual event encouraging public and private sector participation in promoting the GMS as a single destination.

Quang Nam developing pharmaceutical center
Central Quang Nam province is speeding up a project to form a center for the pharmaceutical industry. The project focuses on building mechanisms and policies to encourage businesses and individuals to participate in the cultivation and processing of medicinal plants. Quang Nam is currently implementing many preferential mechanisms and policies to attract businesses to invest in the development of the pharmaceutical industry in general and of Ngoc Linh ginseng in particular.

Quang Nam to improve district and commune health networks
The Quang Nam Provincial People’s Council has approved two investment projects with total capital of nearly VND300 billion ($12.76 million) to build or upgrade five district health centers and build, upgrade, or purchase equipment for 76 commune health stations. Implementation is from 2022 to 2023.

Quang Nam moving ahead with urban areas
To implement Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2022 from the Politburo, the Standing Board of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee has issued an action plan on urban planning, construction, management, and development to 2030 and vision to 2045, which includes developing Hoi An ancient town into a specific urban area. The central province is striving for an urbanization rate of 37 per cent by 2025 and 40 per cent by 2030.

Quang Nam seeks permisson to build road to Ngoc Linh ginseng area
Central Quang Nam province has asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to seek permission from the Prime Minister to change the land use purpose of more than 25 hectares of natural forest to build a road to a Ngoc Linh ginseng development area in Nam Tra My district. The road is part of a project on the conservation and development of Ngoc Linh ginseng to 2030, approved by the government in 2015.

Quang Nam introduces new regulations on land recovery support
Under a Decision signed by the Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh on June 20, more compensation and support policies will be offered to households and individuals whose land has been recovered for construction projects. Those subject to the Decision include households and individuals with gardens or ponds within housing land plots not recognized as residential land under the provisions of Clause 6, Article 103, of the Land Law.

Quang Nam to develop additional 20,000 ha of industrial parks and clusters
Central Quang Nam province has identified industrial development as a major orientation in its economic development. According to the master plan to 2030 and vision to 2045, the province will develop an additional 20,000 ha of industrial parks and clusters. Thirteen industrial parks are now operating in the province, posting export turnover of $800 million and employing 55,000 workers.

Quang Nam to host National Tourism Year 2022
A series of activities in celebration of National Tourism Year 2022 will be held in central Quang Nam province and elsewhere and will mark the recovery and development of Vietnam’s tourism industry. Severely damaged by Covid-19, the tourism sector faced many challenges in 2021, with domestic tourists totaling just 40 million, down 29 per cent compared to 2020.
