After a slight dip of 3.2 per cent in the previous month, Vietnam's import-export turnover in July surged by 8 per cent, bringing the total trade turnover in the first 7 months to $514.7 billion
The General Statistics Office has reported that total trade turnover of goods in October stood at $58.27 billion, a 0.1 per cent compared to September and 5.7 per cent year-on-year. Total trade in the first ten months was $616.24 billion, up 14.1 per cent year-on-year. Trade was in surplus by over $9 billion.
Figures from the General Department of Vietnam Customs show that 18,303 completely-built-up (CBU) motor cars of all kinds were imported in September, with total turnover standing at $367.45 million, a 0.1 per cent increase in number but fall of 4.7 per cent in turnover compared to August. In the first nine months of the year, 114,496 CBU motor cars were imported, with turnover totaling more than $2.6 billion, up 0.2 per cent in number and 3 per cent in turnover year-on-year.
Export turnover to Russia is showing signs of recovery after a sharp decline of 85 per cent year-on-year was posted last March. Russian businesses have recently shown interest in promoting trade and investment cooperation with Vietnam.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, of the more than $371 billion in import and export turnover in the first half of 2022, turnover with Asia was nearly $240 billion, or 64.5 per cent. Trade turnover with Africa fell just 0.3 per cent, to more than $4 billion. Trade was in surplus by $743 million in the first half.
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), seafood exports in the second quarter of 2022 posted turnover of over $3.2 billion, an increase of nearly 36 per cent year-on-year. Seafood exports in the first half of the year reached nearly $5.8 billion, up 40 per cent. While the US still holds the top position in the consumption of Vietnamese seafood, exports to China also rose significantly, by 91 per cent.
According to the General Statistics Office, total trade turnover reached $371.17 billion in the first half of 2022, up 16.4 per cent year-on-year, with exports at $185.94 billion, up 17.3 per cent, and imports at $185.23 billion, up 15.5 per cent. Trade was therefore in surplus by $710 million. The US was Vietnam’s largest export market, with turnover of $55.9 billion.
Completely-built-unit (CBU) motor cars imported into Vietnam in the first half of this year doubled the figure posted in the same period last year, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. The country imported 81,107 CBUs in the period, with turnover reaching more than $1.838 billion, up 100.5 per cent in volume and 100.3 per cent in value compared to the first half of 2020.
