PM proposes China open its market to more farm produce

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held phone talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on April 4.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that China accelerate its market opening for Vietnamese agricultural products during phone talks held with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on April 4.

He suggested the two sides actively study measures to maintain smooth trade, raise the capacity and efficiency of customs clearance, and strengthen connectivity of road, rail, sea, and air infrastructure.

The Prime Minister also proposed the two sides work harder to remove longstanding problems in certain cooperative projects, such as the second-phase expansion of the Thai Nguyen iron and steel plant, effectively cooperate in tourism, and make greater effort to promote people-to-people cooperation and exchanges.

Premier Li said China stands ready to open its market to Vietnamese goods, especially agricultural products, and to cooperate with Vietnam in resolving stagnant cooperative projects.

He suggested the two sides strengthen strategic connectivity and assist each other in transport infrastructure connectivity, foster cooperation in economy, trade, and investment, particularly in manufacturing and agriculture, and work together to maintain supply and production chains.
