While working with leaders from the Mekong Delta’s Ben Tre province on July 1, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc said its economy is recovering and many signs of improvement can be seen, with gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increasing 4.18 per cent in the first half of 2022. He also pointed to a number of areas where the province needs to give priority in development, and added that it is necessary to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector and effectively exploit the potential of the local marine economy.
Ben Tre province's first commercial wind power plant, with an output of 105 million kWh per year, was opened on November 28. With great potential for wind power development thanks to its long coastline, the Mekong Delta province plans to build 17 more wind power projects next year with a total capacity of more than 914 MW.
