Ministries, sectors and localities to speed up promulgation of open data lists
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has directed ministries, branches, and localities to work closely with the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) to speed up the promulgation of an open data list, to organize the development of plans, and to implement open data disclosure. According to the Ministry, open data is now attracting attention in many countries and territories.

Vietnam 10th globally in app downloads
Figures from the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) show that, in September, Vietnam saw a total of 265 million new downloads of mobile apps, ranking it tenth-highest in the world after India, the US, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Russia, Mexico, Pakistan, and Turkey. The number of new downloads in Vietnam is mainly video games, such as entertainment, action, intelligence, puzzles, adventure, and so on.

Vietnam seventh in Asia-Pacific regarding digital society
According to the GSMA’s Digital Society Index released in August, Vietnam ranks seventh among countries in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of digital society, after Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, and Malaysia. It also ranked fifth in terms of digital commerce pillars and seventh in terms of digital lifestyles. The Ministry of Information and Communications has said that the total number of users on Vietnamese digital platforms reached over 494 million in August, an increase of 23.56 per cent year-on-year.

Mobile virtual network operators tipped to grow
The Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) has licensed four mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) in Vietnam, with the number of subscribers accounting for about 1.2 per cent of the telecommunications market. The MVNO market in the country is forecast to account for 10-15 per cent of the telecommunications market, or 15-20 million subscribers.
