Two HCMC metro projects seek delays
Progress at two metro projects in Ho Chi Minh City has been slow and both have now sought delays. The completion of Metro Line No. 1, Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien, is now delayed until the fourth quarter of 2023, with the start of construction on Metro Line No. 2, Ben Thanh - Tham Luong, not scheduled as yet and completion now postponed until 2030.

Deputy PM calls for on-time completion of North-South Expressway sections
Three of four sub-projects in the first phase of the North-South Expressway project, which were to be completed in 2022, are currently behind schedule. Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has requested no further delays. Construction contractors and project management boards that do not meet requirements must be replaced immediately.

Rising steel price triggers delays in construction
The steel price has increased 40 per cent this year compared to 2020, pushing up construction costs by 10 per cent. Many contractors have delayed construction while waiting for prices to fall, to avoid financial damage.
