The Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism has worked with others since the beginning of the year to hold a host events to restore the local tourist market. With the opening of direct flights from Cam Ranh to Almaty, Kazakhstan, on October 26, travel businesses in the south-central province will focus on that country’s tourist market and others in central Asia and Eastern Europe. The province welcomed nearly 2.3 million visitors in the first ten months of 2022, 4.6-fold higher than in the same period last year, of which international visitors reached nearly 190,000, or 9.2-fold higher.
According to the urban land use plan for the beach city of Nha Trang in south-central Khanh Hoa province, the area of agricultural land will decrease by 2030 as non-agricultural land increases sharply, of which commercial and service land will rise nearly four-fold. Of note, the land area for entertainment will expand nearly 14-fold.
The objective of planning for the Cam Lam New Urban Area on nearly 55,000 ha in south-central Khanh Hoa province is to develop an airport urban area in combination with a global financial-intelligence and innovation center, and to build the world’s leading entertainment and shopping center and paradise resort. The population in the Cam Lam New Urban Area is tipped to be 320,000 by 2030 and 770,000 by 2045.
The National Assembly (NA) passed a Resolution on June 16 on piloting a number of specific development mechanisms in south-central Khanh Hoa province, to be implemented over five years from August 1. Regarding the development of the Van Phong Economic Zone, the Resolution stipulates a list of industries and occupations prioritized to attract investment.
At its next meeting in May, the National Assembly (NA) is expected to adopt a resolution piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for south-central Khanh Hoa province. Approving partial adjustments to general planning on the construction of functional areas and the urban master plan approved by the Prime Minister is to be decentralized to the province.
After reviewing an appraisal from the Provincial Land Price Appraisal Council, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has determined that due to adjusted land use fees and land rentals, the total additional amount the investor of The Lotus Cam Ranh project must pay is VND354 billion ($15.5 million).
With an area of 550 sq km, a vast natural forest, abundant minerals, and substantial potential in tourism, the coastal district of Cam Lam in south-central Khanh Hoa province is to become an “internationally-connected modern, eco airport urban area”.
South-central Khanh Hoa province plans to build 51,275 houses with a total floor area of 5.3 million sq m in the 2021-2025 period, of which 4,146 will be social houses with a total floor area of 210,000 sq m. Capital of VND48.79 trillion ($2.14 billion) is required.
