Addressing a meeting with the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture and Education on October 17, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son proposed that the legislature ensure that a minimum of 20 per cent of total national budget expenditure is set aside for education. Despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, the education sector has posted a range of positive results. In the ranking of countries in terms of education in 2021, Vietnam was 59th, up five places compared to 2020.
Ten cooperative agreements were signed at the Vietnam - US Education Cooperation Forum in the US on September 21 between representatives of educational management agencies and educational institutions and corporations in the two countries. Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that to make a dramatic change in human resources development, Vietnam has decided to strengthen international education integration and promote investment in the country.
Since 2009, the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Network has assessed and certified 250 training programs in Vietnam. At a meeting with the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), the two discussed a number of issues relating to evaluations by AUN-QA of its training programs and educational institutions in Vietnam.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc has said that Vietnam’s education transformation will focus on three pillars: transforming the governance system, transforming the school environment from “static” to “dynamic”, and digital transformation.
