Stock market may struggle after operating interest rate increase
In an updated report, Dragon Capital said that in an environment of rising interest rates, expected returns in the stock market are unlikely to be outstanding. In the short term, the market will see many fluctuations depending on developments around the world. However, the influence of external factors on Vietnam is much lower than in emerging countries and is not systematic.

HSBC report depicts multi-faceted performance in Vietnam’s economy
HSBC’s recently-released “Vietnam at a Glance - Returning to the old strategy” report shows a multi-faceted picture of Vietnam’s economy, with exports weakening due to a decline in mobile phone shipments but domestic retail sales growth being strong. The report also noted that inflationary pressure will be stronger from the second half of 2022.

Blue economy report identifies marine development
A report on the blue economy from the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the UNDP was released on May 12, presenting blue scenarios in Vietnam’s marine economic development, including six key marine economic sectors. Blue scenarios will bring outstanding benefits in terms of GDP, the GNI of marine economic sectors, and the per capita income of marine workers.
