The ISEE-COVID project’s “Innovative nuclear launcher program to promote social impact business (SIB)”, funded by Global Affairs Canada and co-implemented by the UNDP and the Ministry of Planning and Investment, was launched in Hanoi on August 4. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the UNDP inaugurated the Vietnam Circular Economy Network within the framework of a conference kicking off the development of a national action plan to implement Vietnam’s circular economy, held on June 28. Implemented and built in 2021 with support from the embassies of Norway, the Netherlands, and Finland in Vietnam, the network will contribute to perfecting institutions and policies and accelerating the transition to an effective circular economy in all socio-economic fields.
On June 28, at the “Kick-off conference to develop a national plan to implement the circular economy”, Ms. Caitlin Wiesen-Antin, UNDP Chief Representative for Vietnam, offered five recommendations to help the country promote the circular economy and realize its goal of reaching net-zero emissions, including integrating the circular economy in the development of smart cities and coastal areas, and accelerating the development of renewable energy.
