On August 25, Vietnam Social Security and the Laos National Social Security Administration held a working session to evaluate the implementation of an MoU for the 2016-2020 period and discuss cooperation activities in the future.
At a working session with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on December 8, Vietnam Social Security set a target of 23.1 million people participating in social insurance by the end of 2025 and 18 million in unemployment insurance, accounting for 45 per cent and 35 per cent, respectively, of the workforce, while the health insurance coverage is to be 95 million people, or 95 per cent of the population.
Vietnam Social Security will reduce the contributions to unemployment insurance funds by 381,925 businesses, with a total amount of over VND7.6 trillion ($334.1 million). More than 7,400 employees have received support payments from the Fund, totaling over VND20 billion ($879,350).
