Israeli Tech Targets Vietnam's Telecom Growth
Israeli firms showcase advanced telecom technologies as the Vietnam-Israel Free Trade Agreement looms.
A workshop in Vietnam held on 5 April served as a platform for Israeli businesses to promote their advanced telecom technologies to Vietnamese counterparts.
This push comes as the Vietnam-Israel Free Trade Agreement (VIFTA), signed in July 2023 and expected to come into effect later this year, promises to open new market opportunities.
Israel's Expertise: A Magnet for Investment
Israel, known as the "Startup Nation", enjoys global recognition for its innovative technology sector. Over 350 multinational R&D centers operate within its borders, drawn by a thriving ecosystem specializing in software, communication, data analysis, virtualization, hardware design, internet applications, cloud computing, and network security.
This technological prowess is fueling the evolution of the telecom industry. Traditional mobile network operators and ICT providers look to fresh partnerships and Israeli innovation as they expand digital service offerings, seeking a competitive edge.
Workshop Focus: Israeli Solutions, Vietnamese Needs
The workshop showcased Israeli advancements in communication technology, analytics, network optimization, IoT connectivity and security, and broadband. Such solutions could offer Vietnamese telecom and data center operators the potential to streamline costs, develop new revenue streams, and adapt services, all while bolstering security.
"Today's telecom challenges and future opportunities" were addressed by Shiri Ram, Head of Mobility at Israel's Export and International Cooperation Institute.
Ram highlighted Israel's expertise and how it might be leveraged by Vietnam's growing sector. This plenary session was followed by direct matchmaking sessions between Vietnamese firms and nine Israeli tech companies.
Delegation Deep Dive
The Israeli delegation's visit extended beyond the workshop, with representatives meeting with major Vietnamese telecom players like GTEL Corporation, Viettel Group, and MobiFone. These engagements offer a chance to explore specific use cases and potential partnerships.
