2024 Asia Meeting of the Econometric Society, East & Southeast Asia, held in HCM City
The first event of the Econometric Society in Vietnam attracting 250 experts and scientists from 40 countries.
Hosted by the AVSE Global (Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts) in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking and EMLV Business School of France, the 2024 Asia Meeting of the Econometric Society, East & Southeast Asia, was held in Ho Chi Minh City between August 2-4.
This is the first meeting of the Econometric Society, East & Southeast Asia, held in Vietnam.
The event attracted the participation of 250 experts and scientists from 40 countries.
Some 60 panel discussions focused on hot issues of the global economy, thus contributing to economic growth worldwide, including in Vietnam.
For a fast growing economy like Vietnam, econometrics is very crucial. It helps the Government, management agencies and businesses in policy making on the basis of actual data and scientific data analysis. In the context of economic integration globally, econometrics can help Vietnam to seize global economic development trends, maximize resources and strengthen competitiveness.
The Scientific Program Co-Chairs are Professor Nobuhiro Kiyotaki (Princeton University, the United States) and Professor Nguyen Duc Khuong (EMLV Business School, France & AVSE Global). The Local Organizing Committee Chair is Assistant Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung (Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking).
Speakers at the plenary session of the AMES 2024 included Professor Harrison Hong (Columbia University, the United States), Professor Charles I. Jones, (Stanford Graduate School of Business, the United States), Professor Gilat Levy, (London School of Economics and Political Science, the UK); and Professor Mark W. Watson (Princeton University, the United States).
Some 60 panel discussions and 230 scientific papers focused on such topics as econometrics and application of econometrics; macroeconomics; microeconomics; data science; environmental economics; behavioral economics; financial economics; corporate finance; health economics; health, labor economics; education; industrial organization; international trade; public economics; climate change; international economics; and Vietnamese economy; among others.
