7M fruit and vegetable exports earn $3.8 bln
Key export markets including China, South Korea, Japan, US and Europe.
Exports of fruit and vegetable in the first seven months of the year harvested over $3.8 billion, rising 23.4% compared to the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association (VINAFRUIT).
In July alone, fruit and vegetable export revenue was estimated at $477 million, up 18% year-on-year.
In the Jan-July period, Vietnam imported over $1.2 billion worth of fruit and vegetable, surging 12.7% year-on-year.
As a result, the sector posted a trade surplus of $2.6 billion in the seven-month period.
Export of durian gained the highest turnover among key export products with $1.7 billion.
Regarding export markets, China took the lead with an export value of $2.1 billion, up 22% year-on-year and accounting for 64% of the total. It was followed by South Korea with $164 million, soaring 57.9%.
Other key markets include Japan, the US, Europe, Australia and the Middle East.
