Vietnam faces a critical clean water shortage in 2024, exacerbated by the ongoing El Niño weather phenomenon, which negatively impacts both production and domestic water supply.

The National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting predicts the El Niño phenomenon will reach high intensity in the first quarter of 2024, with a greater than 90% probability. While the intensity may lessen, it's likely to persist through June 2024 with a 65% probability. This will likely result in increased heat, particularly in southern regions, with a greater number of hot days than average. El Niño is expected to heighten water consumption, potentially disrupting daily life and production.

Recognizing this urgency, AB InBev, a leading beer producer, is committed to preserving clean water sources. As water is a vital ingredient in beer, the company understands the importance of protecting this precious resource. El Niño's effects have heightened the significance of clean water conservation and made it a key focus within AB InBev's ESG strategy in Vietnam.

In observance of World Water Day on March 22nd, 2024, the United Nations launched the theme "Leveraging Water for Peace," highlighting the critical role water resources play in the stability and prosperity of nations. Water scarcity and pollution can exacerbate tensions between communities and countries. Cooperative water management promotes peace, equity, sustainable development, and a brighter future.

Inspired by this message, Anheuser-Busch InBev Vietnam partnered with the Binh Duong provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment to organize the workshop "Love Clean Water, Act Green" for AB InBev employees. The workshop emphasized a green, healthy lifestyle and aimed to foster a sense of responsibility for efficient and sustainable water use among employees.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Duong province participated in the program and shared with AB InBev employees to work together to protect clean water sources.
