AEON Hue: A new chapter in Hue’s growth
September opening of new AEON store its first in Vietnam’s central region.
AEON Hue officially opened its doors on September 16, positioning itself as a new shopping option for the people of Hue in central Vietnam and aiming to play a role in the city’s economic and social development.
AEON has identified Vietnam as a key market in its global strategy, with investment of $1.5 billion in the country to date. The opening of AEON Hue marks its first venture in the central region, expanding its presence beyond Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and northern Hai Phong city.
“Following our presence in the southern city of Ho Chi Minh City and the northern cities of Hanoi and Hai Phong, AEON is proud to introduce its first store in Hue, a developing economic and cultural hub,” said Mr. Furusawa Yasuyuki, Executive Officer Vietnam Business of AEON Group (Japan), and General Director of AEON Vietnam, noting that AEON aims to enhance the daily lives of customers while supporting sustainable development in Vietnam.
AEON Vietnam views Hue not just as a market with economic potential but also as a city with a diverse community. The blend of traditional families and younger generations presents unique opportunities for retail, driven in part by the city’s tourism growth.
In AEON Hue, shoppers can expect a mix of products ranging from Japanese and local cuisine, fashion, and household goods to souvenirs and local specialties. The store offers a modern shopping experience designed to meet the needs of both residents and visitors to the city.
AEON Hue also aims to contribute to Hue’s retail sector, while respecting and preserving local cultural traditions. It seeks to be more than just a shopping destination, aspiring to play a positive role in the community.
Understanding the challenges that Hue residents face, particularly with natural disasters such as flooding, AEON is drawing on its experience in disaster response from Japan. The company is committed to working closely with local authorities to support relief efforts when needed.
AEON’s presence in Hue is also expected to have a broader economic impact, creating over 500 jobs and offering training opportunities for local workers in the retail industry. Furthermore, AEON is working with local businesses to help them meet the requirements of modern distribution systems, giving them a platform to improve their product quality and expand their reach.
Additionally, to support and develop local businesses, AEON Vietnam organized a Supplier Conference in November 2023 entitled “AEON Accompanying & Developing with Local Businesses”. Partners attending the conference were equipped with knowledge about AEON’s product technical standards, helping them improve product quality, meet the stringent requirements of modern distribution systems, and expand business opportunities. The presence of AEON Vietnam in Hue not only brings many job opportunities for local people but also contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises, promoting the socio-economic development of Hue and the central region in general.
As part of its sustainability efforts, AEON Hue offers discounts to customers who bring their own shopping bags, aiming to reduce the use of single-use plastics.
The opening of AEON Hue is part of AEON Vietnam’s ongoing expansion, which includes plans to open stores in other localities like Da Nang and Hai Phong. Through such efforts, the company hopes to bring high-quality products to more customers and contribute to the socio-economic development of the communities in which it operates.
