Founded in 1965 as part of Vietnam’s evolving financial system, Baoviet was the sole state-owned insurance provider in Northern Vietnam in its early years. It was entrusted with key tasks like safeguarding assets, managing state insurance funds, and minimizing losses.
From 1965 to 1974, despite the challenges of wartime, Baoviet pioneered marine cargo, vessel, and passenger accident insurance. Its first branch in Hai Phong, a major trade hub, played an essential role in supporting foreign trade and maritime activities.
