Central Nghe An province to have $2.15 bln LNG-fired power plant

The Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee has called for investors to invest in the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant project.

Under the project, the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant will be built in Quynh Lap commune, Hoang Mai town in the central province.

The plant has a design capacity of 1,500 MW with a total investment of approximately $2.15 billion. The project includes such components as LNG power plant, gas storage, reception port, breakwater, and auxiliary works.

The project will be developed on an area of approximately 210-360 hectares, with an LNG fuel demand of about 1.15 million tons per year and a port capable of accommodating vessels with a capacity of about 100,000 DWT.

The Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant is one of the important and prioritized power projects listed in the National Power Development Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 ((PDP8), approved by Prime Ministerial Decision No. 500/QD-TTg,  and the Plan to implement the PDP8, approved by Prime Ministerial Decision No. 262/QD.

The project is expected to commence commercial operation before 2030.

Recently, the Department of Industry and Trade of Nghe An province and the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board held a meeting with investors to announce and provide information related to the Quynh Lap LNG Project. The Department of Industry and Trade introduced an overview of the project and the project site.

According to Mr. Pham Van Hoa, Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade,  applications from investors  will be received on September 20, 2024.
