Chinese car brand makes waves in Vietnam with test drive event

A Chinese car brand targeting young drivers has hosted a unique test drive event in Hanoi for its first 120 customers, offering the chance to experience a model that clinched victory at the 2023 World Touring Car Championship (WTCR) alongside a world-renowned racing car driver.

Ma Qinghua, the first Chinese Formula 1 driver and current member of the TCR - Cyan Racing Lynk & Co Racing team, shared his insights into the car’s performance and technology. He highlighted the balance, handling, and close resemblance to his racing car, noting that the manufacturer integrates lessons from the racing track into its commercial models.

Among the manufacturer’s three models showcased at the event, which boast features such as high-performance engines, AWD systems, and advanced safety technology, customers like Mr. Hoang Van Thai were impressed by the flagship SUV 09’s acceleration, stability, and Automatic Emergency Braking system.

The brand’s entry into Vietnam comes amid a surge in Chinese car brands arriving in the market. Chery, Haval, Wuling, and Haima are among others aiming to capitalize on Vietnamese consumers’ growing interest in modern, tech-equipped vehicles.

Local customers like Mr. Nguyen Manh Lam acknowledged the rapid advancements in Chinese car manufacturing, citing their impressive production capacity and cutting-edge technology. However, challenges remain, including higher import taxes compared to domestically-produced cars.

Despite these hurdles, Chinese automobile manufacturers seem poised to challenge established brands, with a focus on performance, technology, and a unique customer experience. The test drive event, featuring a world-renowned racing car driver and impressive models, marks a significant step in Lynk & Co’s Vietnamese journey.
