Domestic gold prices jump to new height following global trend
The selling price of SJC-branded gold bars in the domestic market hitting VND88 million ($3,457) per tael on January 22.
The selling price of SJC-branded gold bars in the domestic market skyrocketed to a new height on January 22 as global prices remain on an upwards trend.
The gold bars were sold at VND88 million ($3,457) per tael, up VND500,000 ($19.6) per tael compared to the previous day.
One tael equals 37.5 grams, or 1.2 ounces.
Prices in the global market jumped to $2,748 an ounce on January 22, or over VND84.2 million per tael.
At this level, gold prices in Vietnam stand at around VND3.8 million ($149) a tael higher than the global price.
