E-commerce short of human resources
As the e-commerce sector develops, demand for human resources exceeds supply.
The rapid development of e-commerce has been accompanied by growing demand for high-quality workers, the launch of the “E-commerce training in 2022” report on August 24, held by the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM), heard.
“Demand for human resources in e-commerce in Vietnam is growing rapidly and will soon grow even faster,” Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, former President of VECOM, told the gathering.
From a business perspective, a representative from Lazada confirmed that recruitment demand for e-commerce personnel is on the rise. Retailers that are undertaking a digital transformation process and shifting business to e-commerce also require specialized human resources, and this adds to demand.
The report also pointed out that many universities and educational centers have trained human resources for the sector. Though great strides forward have been made in such training, the report notes that trainers often don’t meet needs in terms of both quantity and quality. While the number of universities introducing e-commerce majors has increased rapidly, the number of lecturers only meets minimum requirements.
Analysts told the launch that although the rate of training for e-commerce human resources at universities has increased, by nearly 30 per cent, it has still not kept up with the “heated” growth and development needs of the industry. This requires that universities make every effort to further improve the quality of training programs and link training with the practical needs of businesses and society.
