Expansion project of Dong Hoi Airport in central Quang Binh province to be accelerated

The expansion project of Dong Hoi Airport in central Quang Binh province, with total investment capital estimated at over VND1.8 trillion ($70.4 million), will be further accelerated.

The project includes two compoment projects, covering an expected land area of over 15 ha. The component project 1, which involves the constuction of  Passenger Terminal T2, with investment capital estimated at VND1.75 trillion ($68.45 million), is scheduled to commence on April 30 and expected to be completed in Q4 2026. The component project 2, which involves the expansion of aircraft parking apron from 4 positions to 8 positions, with an investment capital estimated at nearly VND94 billion ($3.67 million), started in last August. 

According to the provincial leaders, Dong Hoi Airport currently has a designed capacity of 500,000 passengers per year but has already exceeded that level by more than 50%. It is projected to reach nearly one million passengers per year by 2025.

According to the plan, by 2030, the airport will reach a capacity of three million passengers per year, with a target of five million passengers per year by 2050.
