Exports to Saudi Arabia must follow Halal certification requirements
Key export products include seafood, cashew nuts, garments and textiles, and phones and components.
The Import and Export Department at the Ministry of Industry and Trade has asked exporters to keep a close watch over market updates and abide by Halal certification requirements when exporting food to Saudi Arabia.
Exporters must be aware that the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) only accepts Halal certification from a list of verified and recognized bodies, according to the department.
Failure to adhere to these regulations will result in the suspension of customs clearance or the return of goods to the exporting port.
Vietnam’s export revenue to Saudi Arabia in the first ten months of 2023 reached $938.22 million, a year-on-year increase of 61.03 per cent.
Key export products are seafood, cashew nuts, garments and textiles, phones and components, and machinery and equipment.
