First LNG power plant connected to the national power grid
The plant will be put into commercial operation from July 2025 after testing phase starting on February 5.
Vietnam's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant - Nhon Trach 3 power plant, which is located in Phuoc Khanh commune, Nhon Trach district of the southern province of Dong Nai, has been connected to the national power grid since its testing phase started on February 5, generating 50 MW of electricity.
Nhon Trach power plant 3 is scheduled to be put into commercial operation in July this year.
Meanwhile, Nhon Trach power plant 4 is expected to start commercial operation later, in October 2025.
With a total investment of $1.4 billion, and a combined capacity of 1,624 MW, the two LNG power plants, Nhon Trach 3 and 4, are among the country's most significant energy projects.
When fully operational, the two plants will provide about nine billion kWh of electricity per year to the national grid.
