At the FPT AI Conference 2021 (FAIC 2021), with the theme “Breakthrough to lead in the AI era”, which is taking place from August 17 to 21, the FPT Corporation said it expects to spend VND300 billion ($13.12 million) on the research and development (R&D) of artificial intelligence (AI) over the next five years.

It has invested in R&D in AI technology since 2013 and has formed a diverse ecosystem of AI products, solutions, and platforms to help businesses and organizations maximize profits, optimize operations, improve performance, and deliver an outstanding customer experience.

More than 100 businesses are using FPT’s AI solutions, serving more than 14 million users. For example, the comprehensive AI platform FPT.AI has helped businesses cut costs by 60 per cent, increased workplace productivity, and optimized business processes. akaTrans - an automated document translation machine specializing in English-Japanese-Vietnamese and which is used by more than 6,000 people in over 100 businesses - has helped standardize the process and improve translation productivity by 75 per cent.

In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, its AI R&D has effectively supported the prevention, screening, tracking, and guidance of medical isolation at home. The FPT.AI platform also helps increase the efficiency of the nationwide pandemic tracing team. The platform has made 2.6 million calls to more than 1.6 million Vietnamese citizens so far, contributing to detecting thousands of cases exhibiting symptoms of infection. The corporation is also building a chatbox to provide information and guidance on F0 healthcare in home isolation, helping to reduce the burden on the health system and improve treatment efficiency.

During FAIC week, senior leaders and leading AI experts in the world as well in Vietnam shared their knowledge and experience with young Vietnamese on becoming world-class AI experts.
