Fruit and vegetable export value hit $5.7 bln in 9M

Export value for 2024 estimated at $7 billion.

Vietnam’s  fruit and vegetable export value is expected to reach nearly $5.7 billion in the first nine months of 2024, marking a significant increase of 34% compared to the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (VINAFRUIT).

Of which, durian, as a key product, contributed $2.5 billion.

Other products like dragon fruits, bananas, jack fruits and mangoes also made significant contribution to the export growth.

Most of key export markets of Vietnam recorded growth during the nine-month period. Among which, China remains the biggest market with a value standing at $3.4 billion, a year-on-year rise of 36%. It was followed by the US, the Republic of Korea and Thailand.

Vietnam's fruit and vegetable export value is forecast to hit $7 billion this year and $15 billion by 2030, according to Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, Secretary General of VINAFRUIT.
