Gojek unveiled a new cooperative endeavor with Selex Motors, an innovative electric vehicle (EV) startup based in Vietnam, on September 6. The partnership aims to introduce Selex Camel electric bikes into Gojek’s transportation, food delivery, and logistics services in Vietnam.

Within the partnership, Gojek’s driver-partners will gain access to Selex Camel electric bikes, allowing users to utilize GoRide, GoFood, and GoSend services on eco-friendly vehicles, all without any extra change.

Selex Camel electric bikes offer substantial cost savings for drivers, with potential fuel savings of up to 35 per cent and a remarkable 50 per cent on maintenance costs compared to traditional gasoline motorbikes. This benefits drivers and contributes to a decline in carbon emissions.

“Our ongoing EV pilot has been successful in helping us understand and meet the needs of our driver-partners and enabled them to reduce their operational costs,” said Mr. Sumit Rathor, General Manager of Gojek Vietnam. “This latest cooperation with Selex helps us gain an even greater perspective, diversifying EV options and access for our-driver partners as well as expanding the EV pilot to reach even more consumers. The partnership will help Gojek Vietnam further play its part in supporting the GoTo Group’s commitment to achieving zero emissions and transitioning our fleet to 100 per cent EVs by 2030.”

Selex Camel models incorporate battery-swapping technology, allowing drivers to quickly exchange batteries at dedicated stations, providing up to 150 km of range on a full charge. In this pilot with Selex, Gojek driver-partners can access free battery swaps at over 30 stations in Hanoi and more than 40 in Ho Chi Minh City. Additionally, portable chargers are provided to accommodate various charging needs.

“The shift towards green transportation is incredibly significant as we witness the impact of climate change on our environment,” said Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc Nguyen, CEO of Selex Motors. “The partnership between Selex Motors and Gojek not only aids drivers in cost-efficient operations but also propels the advancement of emissions-free transportation. Our objective is to make cities more environmentally-friendly through an inventive electric motorbike ecosystem and highly-efficient battery-swapping technology.”

Selex Camel electric bikes are designed to ensure safe and smooth operations, even in challenging conditions, delivering a comfortable and enjoyable experience for both drivers and passengers.
