HCMC to build six public parks

Total area for new parks estimated at nearly 800 ha.

Ho Chi Minh City plans to build an additional six public parks on a total area of nearly 800 ha, according to the city’s Department of Construction.

They include the 485-ha Sai Gon Safari Park project in Cu Chi district, a 128-ha eco-park in Thu Duc city, a 20-ha park in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area in Thu Duc city, the 13-ha Go Cat Park project in Binh Tan district, a 3.8-ha park in Binh Thanh district’s Ward 12, and the 150-ha Thanh Xuan Park project in District 12.

The southern city currently has 400 parks.

It developed 8.2 ha of parks last year and planted nearly 12,500 trees.

The total area of land for parks in the city is estimated at over 11,400 ha.

The city expects the area dedicated to parks to increase by 450 ha, equivalent to 1 sq m per person, by 2030.

To fulfill its target, the city needs to carry out a minimum of 54 projects with estimated investment of over VND9 trillion ($364.5 million).
