HCMC’s planning focuses on green and digital growth
Priority to be given to emerging fields like electronics, chips, and semiconductors.
Ho Chi Minh City’s economic development orientation has been characterized as green and digital, according to Deputy Chairman of the city’s People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan.
Addressing a scientific conference on January 31 to discuss draft planning for the city in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, Mr. Hoan said its industry sector will promote emerging fields such as microelectronics, electronics, chips, semiconductors, supporting industries, and high technology.
Planning should exploit the potential and strengths of the city and promote regional connections with other localities, he added.
Establishing connections between the city and other provinces is considered a directional solution in the planning, he explained.
Experts have suggested developing satellite urban areas while creating regional connections to exploit the region’s full potential.
The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has notified consulting units compiling the draft planning to concentrate on two key aspects: the spatial development direction for infrastructure and the spatial development orientation for economic sectors.
