Attracting investment for circular economy projects will be a key priority, with the goal of catalyzing a green transition across the locality’s main economic sectors.

Hue City in Central Vietnam has announced its plan for implementation of the National Action Plan for a Circular Economy, setting ambitious targets through 2035.

Under its plan, the city aims for renewable energy to account for at least 20% of its total primary energy supply by 2030, while also reducing the extraction of non-renewable resources, increasing waste treatment rates, and fostering green value chains for sustainable development.

Beyond environmental targets, the city emphasizes boosting economic efficiency by promoting innovative models and optimizing resource use. The plan outlines a strategy to develop new, high-value-added value chains, aiming to generate new employment opportunities through the adoption of circular economy principles.

Hue will prioritize the implementation of the circular economy in 10 key sectors by 2035. These include: agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; energy; mineral extraction and processing; processing and manufacturing; chemicals; construction; transportation; services and tourism; waste management; and development of urban areas, industrial parks, and centralized business hubs.

Attracting investment for circular economy projects will be a key priority, with the goal of catalyzing a green transition across the locality’s main economic sectors.

To achieve its objectives, the plan identifies five core groups of tasks and solutions: raising awareness and building skills for implementing a circular economy; developing policies and strengthening institutional frameworks; supporting the adoption of circular models in production, business, and consumption; enhancing waste management systems; and monitoring and evaluating the plan's implementation.
