During a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Rio de Janeiro on July 6, JBS Senior Executive stated that his company is ready to position Vietnam as a central hub for the production and distribution of agricultural and food products.

Mr. Fábio Maia de Oliveira, a Senior Executive at JBS, a leading Brazilian multinational corporation, stated that his company is ready to position Vietnam as a central hub for the production and distribution of agricultural and food products across the region and globally.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Rio de Janeiro on July 6, according to a report from the Government News.

During the meeting, PM Chinh encouraged JBS to cooperate with and support Vietnamese partners in enhancing their capabilities—particularly in market development, technology transfer, and product promotion—to help Vietnam integrate more deeply and sustainably into the global supply chain.

Mr. Oliveira noted that JBS, which has been present in Vietnam since 2021, has plans and a strong desire to expand its investment in the country.

PM Chinh affirmed that Vietnam–Brazil relations continue to develop positively, especially following the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership in November 2024. Building on the strong foundation of political and diplomatic relations, he expressed hope that Brazilian enterprises, including JBS Group, will further explore and expand their business and investment activities in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister emphasized that, in addition to serving a domestic market of over 100 million people with a rapidly growing middle class, Vietnam is well positioned to serve as a gateway for JBS to access the broader ASEAN region and Northeast Asian markets, including China.

The PM encouraged JBS to strengthen cooperation with local partners to bring its products to consumers in Vietnam and the region, while also supporting the export of Vietnamese agricultural products to Brazil and the company’s global distribution network. He noted that Vietnam’s 17 free trade agreements with over 60 major economies offer significant advantages for such collaboration.

As Vietnam is currently advancing negotiations toward the signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Brazil and the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), PM Chinh called on JBS Group to support and help accelerate this process, which would create more favorable conditions for the company to operate effectively and expand its production and business footprint in Vietnam.
