Lien Khuong airport becomes first international one in Central Highlands
The airport capable of handling 5 million passengers and 20,000 tons of cargo annually by 2030.
Lien Khuong airport in the Central Highlands’ Lam Dong province has been recognized as an international airport, the first of its kind in the region.
The promotion is considered an important motivation to boost socio-economic development of Lam Dong province and the Central Highlands, particularly trade, investment and tourism.
Under the airport’s master plan for 2021-2030 periods with a vision to 2050, which was approved by the Ministry of Transport in May this year, Lien Khuong airport will be capable of serving 5 million passengers and handling 20,000 tons of cargo annually.
It is expected to to be expanded to 486,8 ha and to host 7 million passengers annually by 2050.
The airport currently welcomes over 2 million passengers on average each year.
It hosts six international flights each day.
