Long Thanh airport undergoes successful safety inspection flights
The evaluations mark a key milestone in preparations for the operational launch of Long Thanh International Airport, scheduled in 2026.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), in collaboration with relevant agencies, has successfully conducted safety inspection flights at Long Thanh International Airport in southern Dong Nai province to evaluate air navigation procedures and verify operational readiness.
The inspections aimed to assess the accuracy and integrity of navigation databases, including obstacles, terrain, navigation aids, and other elements that could impact flight safety.
Using a Beechcraft King Air 350ER — a specialized aircraft for testing and calibrating flight systems — the team evaluated key components such as runway lighting, Instrument Landing System (ILS) precision approach systems, navigation and landing lights, and various monitoring and communication equipment.
By the morning of August 1, two test flights had been completed successfully. Both flights departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, conducted inspection manoeuvres in Long Thanh airspace, and returned to Tan Son Nhat.
According to VATM, these flights are essential for assessing the feasibility of flight operations, ensuring there is no signal interference affecting the accuracy or strength of the navigation systems. All tests were conducted in accordance with flight procedures approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
A comprehensive calibration flight is scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2025.
