Measures needed to boost Da Nang’s tourism competitiveness
Developing tourism the focus of a recent working session involving Da Nang authorities.
Central Da Nang city needs a number of separate policies and mechanisms to attract development investment to recover and boost the competitiveness of its tourism industry compared to elsewhere in Vietnam, industry insiders and analysts told a working session with the Standing Committee of the Da Nang Party Committee on February 16.
Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, suggested that the city have its own mechanisms and policies to attract investment and develop high-end tourism services such as shopping centers, world-class entertainment complexes, and yachting activities, as well as its night economy along both banks of the Han River.
In order to ensure the peace of mind of visiting tourists, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, asked the city’s health sector to quickly notify the People’s Committee of any change in the pandemic situation so it may create the best conditions possible for tourism businesses to conduct disease prevention efforts and welcome tourists to the city in a careful manner.
The city will also allow the tourism industry to pilot amusement parks opening along the coast, far from residential areas. Regarding its night market, it is necessary to re-evaluate and make adjustments based of piloted business activities and adopt a management mechanism to ensure safety and security at night. City leaders also called for the widespread sale of typical products from Da Nang at shopping centers.
