Mobile Money users at over 3.9 million

More than 3.9 million people in Vietnam had used Mobile Money services as of May, including over 2.7 million in rural, mountainous, border, and island areas, or 69 per cent, figures from the Telecommunications Department at the Ministry of Information and Communications show.

Mobile Money enables people in remote areas to access banking services.

There are 9,953 Mobile Money services trading points nationwide and 15,326 service payment acceptance points.

Over 26.1 million transactions were carried out using Mobile Money services with a total value of more than VND1.68 trillion ($70.8 million).

The State Bank of Vietnam permitted the Mobile Money service to be carried out on a trial basis from November 2011 to November 2023.
