A ceremony was held in northern Son La province on November 19 to officially open the Long Sap (Vietnam) - Pa Hang (Laos) international border gate pair.
The Long Sap border gate, in Long Sap commune, was established on March 1, 1990. Its Lao counterpart is located in Houaphanh province’s Pa Hang hamlet.
The inauguration of the border gate pair is expected to facilitate economic, trade, investment, cultural and tourism exchange, and cooperation between Son La and Houaphanh provinces, contributing to boosting socio-economic development in border areas and boosting regional connectivity.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the importance of the international border gate pair and proposed that relevant agencies and local authorities in Vietnam and Laos prioritize investment in socio-economic infrastructure in border areas and border gates, including the Long Sap-Pa Hang pair.
