PM chairs meeting with business leaders to develop private sector

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting between permanent Government members and leaders of businesses on February 10 to discuss ways to help private enterprises to further develop, thus contributing to boosting the country’s rapid and sustainable growth.

PM Chinh stressed that the private economic sector is an important driver for the country’s economic development.

He asked the businesses to continue taking pioneer role in innovation, digital transformation and application of science and technology; and promote digital economy, green economy, circular economy, sharing economy, knowledge-based economy and innovative economy.

To gather insights and address institutional challenges, the permanent Government members will host a series of conferences with banks and state-owned, private, and foreign-invested enterprises. These discussions will focus on both immediate and long-term actions needed to tackle legal, land-use, planning, and procedural obstacles, including those related to permits and regulations, he said.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment reported that Vietnam is now home to over 940,000 active enterprises, more than 30,000 cooperatives, and over 5 million household businesses.
