PM proposed continued support from WB
WB Vice President Manuela V. Ferro is on a working visit to Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed the World Bank (WB) to continue supporting Vietnam to implement programs and policies promoting sustainable growth, green, digital, circular, sharing and knowledge-based economies, during a reception for visiting Vice President of WB Manuela V. Ferro and WB Country Director for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia Mariam J. Sherman on May 27.
He also suggested the WB to continue providing preferential loans for Vietnam as well as support in technology, human resources training, policy consultancy, mechanism building and improvement of administration capacity in order to promote sustainable development and strengthen the competitiveness of the economy, the Government News has reported.
PM Chinh expressed his appreciation for the WB’s contributions to Vietnam's socio-economic development since 1993, with total funding of up to $24 billion.
He hailed the proposed $11 billion in WB lending for Vietnam over the next five years, focusing on large-scale infrastructure, energy and agriculture.
Ms. Ferro pledged the WB's continued partnership with Vietnam to achieve its development goals to become a developed country by 2045 and helping to boost the connection between Vietnam with other countries in the region.
