PM receives China's commercial aircraft corporation deputy general manager

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Mr. Wei Yingbiao, Deputy General Manager of COMAC, on November 6, during his working visit to China, highlighting potential collaboration between the two nations in the aviation sector.

Shanghai-based Comac, which stands for Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd., is well known for its C919, a narrow-body plane designed and manufactured by China. It is also developing the ARJ21, a twin-engine regional airliner

During the meeting, Mr. Wei Yingbiao emphasized Vietnam's strong potential as a market for COMAC's aircraft, particularly the C919, the Government News reported.

He highlighted ongoing discussions with Vietjet, Vietnam's largest private airline, aimed at introducing COMAC aircraft into the Vietnamese market. This partnership, according to Mr. Wei, could serve as a model for future transport cooperation between the two countries.

PM Chinh acknowledged the growing strength of the Vietnam-China relationship and emphasized the importance of aviation cooperation in promoting trade and investment. He expressed appreciation for COMAC's proposal to collaborate with Vietnam, including the planned C919 exhibition in February 2025.

PM Chinh welcomed COMAC's continued market research and encouraged the company to explore partnerships with Vietnamese businesses, including Vietjet. He stressed the importance of thorough evaluation of aircraft to ensure suitability for Vietnam's fleet diversification.

The Prime Minister lauded COMAC's advancements in aircraft research and development, particularly in the area of wide-body aircraft. He expressed confidence in COMAC's ability to compete with global leaders in the aviation industry.

Mr. Wei reiterated COMAC's commitment to working closely with Vietjet to develop their partnership.
