Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh set out a number of important tasks in implementation at an online conference on accelerating planning progress and consulting on orientations for the National Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050, on March 2.

He emphasized two important points in the formulation of the Plan: punctuality and quality assurance. Awareness also needs to be raised about the position, role, and importance of the planning process. Planning must have a long-term, stable nature, with adjustments made in line with reality when necessary. It is also necessary to develop mechanisms and policies to promote the rapid and sustainable development of the planning.

The Prime Minister asked that planning be defined an important political task in 2022 and must comply with the 2013 Constitution, Resolutions from the 13th Party Congress, and resolutions, documents, and directions from the Central Committee, the Politburo, the National Assembly, the government, and all levels, branches, localities.

It is necessary to select good consulting contractors both domestic and foreign and to listen to opinions from experts and scientists on the planning. Information and communications activities need to be transparent, and the building of a national database must be modern and convenient for use. The publication and management of planning must be in accordance with regulations.

In addition, the formulation of regional, sectoral, and national planning must be linked with regional and global development, selecting key locations in the supply chain and value chain to promote advantages and opportunities to improve the country’s global competitiveness.
