Prime Minister calls for cooperation with British business community
British businesses encouraged to invest in Vietnam at meeting with PM in Glasgow.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh spoke of investment cooperation with British businesses and investors based on a spirit of harmonizing the benefits and sharing the risks during a meeting with the British business community on November 3 while he was paying a working visit to the UK and attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow.
At a meeting with British businesses in the fields of finance, banking, investment management, property, auditing, and insurance, Prime Minister Chinh spoke of Vietnam’s advantages in having an attractive investment environment and foreign investment strategies. He asked British investors to contribute to and advise on policy development and national governance in accordance with the specific conditions in Vietnam and trends around the world.
He also affirmed that Vietnam has a consistent policy towards investors to ensure long-term stability in movement and development between the two sides.
The Prime Minister also touched on challenges Vietnam must address, including investments in strategic infrastructure, administrative reform, improvements to institutions and policies on capital markets, and investment planning.
Notably, he suggested that VinaCapital invest in a financial center and strategic infrastructure in Vietnam, and asked it to share its experience with Vietnam in economic restructuring, economic recovery post-pandemic, and policy advice and national governance.
