The National Biodiversity Recovery Year - Quang Nam 2024 has significantly raised awareness among all levels, sectors, and the public about the importance of biodiversity conservation.
The goal is to develop Quang Nam into one of the leading localities in green growth, circular economy development, and achieving a harmonious balance between environment and development.
Speaking at the closing ceremony on February 21, Mr. Phan Thai Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam Province, emphasized: "The National Biodiversity Recovery Year - Quang Nam 2024 has concluded, but the spirit, commitments, and results achieved will continue to be promoted and strengthened on the path of conservation and sustainable development of biodiversity."
The activity is part of the implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050. This initiative is linked to Vietnam's participation in the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030. It also contributes to fulfilling Vietnam's international commitments made at the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) held in Montreal, Canada in 2022, affirming that "Vietnam continues to actively participate in joint efforts to conserve global biodiversity."
Under the theme "Living in Harmony with Nature," the National Biodiversity Recovery Year - Quang Nam 2024 featured more than 40 unique events and activities from March to December 2024. These included international activities such as the Exhibition on Biodiversity, and the International Conference on Conservation and Promotion of the Values of Wetland Ecosystems of the Dam Lake River in Tam Ky City, among others.
