Quang Tri adjusts master plan for Southeast Economic Zone
The move aims to transform the area into a comprehensive economic zone, fully exploiting the potential and advantages of various economic sectors.
The Management Board of the Economic Zone of Quang Tri province has reported on adjusting a master plan for the central province's Southeast Economic Zone until 2045, including an adjustment of its boundary.
The adjusted master plan aims to address the shortcomings of the initial master plan which had been approved in 2016 and to transform the area into a comprehensive economic zone, thus fully exploiting the potential and advantages of various economic sectors.
The Southeast Economic Zone comprises four development sub-zones, including Central Sub-Zone (9,401 ha); Urban Sub-Zone (5,573 ha); Airport Sub-Zone (3,572 ha); and Agricultural and Rural Sub-Zone (5,254 ha).
The adjusted master plan highlights eight key new points: Greening and optimizing sub-zones in alignment with development characteristics of each area in the new context; Addressing large functional frameworks, integrating multifunctional aspects, and attracting large, high-value investment projects; Forming an industrial, energy, and service complex south of My Thuy port, and expanding industrial development westward; Enhancing the East-West transport axis to ensure each district has one main connection axis and two secondary connection axes to the Economic Zone; Developing logistics systems and warehouses linked to key functions; Promoting urban tourism and multi-cultural service industries along the coastline, ensuring alignment with national development targets and those of Quang Tri province; Fostering flexible rural population development with mixed growth while controlling major indicators; and Updating the planning for Quang Tri Airport, forming an airport urban area.
