Meanwhile, ground leveling for the project’s first phase has reached 62.5 per cent, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Regarding the construction of the passenger terminal (Package 5.10), Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) - the project’s main investor - is re-inviting bids for the package.

Package No. 5.10 includes design, construction, and equipment installation at the terminal, with estimated investment of over VND35.2 trillion ($1.49 billion). This is the biggest package in the first phase.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha asked relevant agencies on April 11 to select a reputable and capable contractor for the construction of the passenger terminal.

Long Thanh International Airport has total investment of an estimated VND336.63 trillion ($14.6 billion), with construction divided into three phases.

In the first phase, a runway and one passenger terminal along with other supporting facilities will be built to serve 25 million passengers and handle 1.2 million tons of cargo each year.

The project began in 2021. Once fully completed by 2050, the airport will be able to serve 100 million passengers and handle 5 million tons of cargo annually.
