Bank celebrates its 120th anniversary of operations in the country this year, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to Vietnam’s journey.
Announcing its 120th anniversary of operations in Vietnam on February 2, Ms. Michele Wee, CEO of Standard Chartered Vietnam, said the bank considers Vietnam a key growth market and will continue to invest in the country to drive commerce and prosperity.
“Over the past 120 years, we have witnessed Vietnam’s incredible transformation, and we are proud to have been a part of this journey,” Ms. Wee said. “We will continue to be a trusted partner, driving commerce, lifting participation, and supporting Vietnam’s ambitious vision for an inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous future.”
To mark this important milestone, Standard Chartered Vietnam will organize a series of events and activities, including the inaugural Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race, an event that celebrates the richness of culture and heritage, and the Standard Chartered Cup 2024, which offers an opportunity of a lifetime for Vietnamese amateur footballers and football fans with the grand prize of a tour around Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, UK, and a professional training session at the Liverpool Football Club (LFC) academy.
In line with the bank’s strategic pillars of driving net-zero, lifting participation, and resetting globalization, Standard Chartered emphasized that it will accompany the Vietnamese Government’s journey to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
With 120 years of history in Vietnam, Standard Chartered also believes it can leverage and utilize its significant network to deliver FDI to the country and facilitate Vietnamese clients who want to expand into global markets to pursue growth ambitions.
