In addition, Techcombank’s Chief Information Officer, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, was named Chief Information And Technology Officer of the Year In Asia Pacific.
The Asian Banker’s Leadership Achievement Awards, held once every three years, are widely regarded as the most prestigious recognition for senior executives in the banking and financial services industry. The awards follow a rigorous, independent evaluation process and are considered the gold standard for banking leadership and innovation.
Presenting the awards, Mr. Foo Boon Ping, Managing Editor Of The Asian Banker, said, “For his distinguished leadership in advancing digital transformation, launching innovative offerings, building strategic ecosystems, and prioritising talent and sustainability, we are delighted to present the Best Bank CEO In Vietnam award to Mr. Jens Lottner. Under his leadership, Techcombank is also recognised as the Best Managed Bank In Vietnam.”

Mr. Lottner joins an elite group of global bank CEOs who have received the award, including leaders from JP Morgan, DBS Bank, Bank Mandiri, Mizuho Financial Group, Maybank, and OCBC Bank.
The award recognizes Mr. Lottner’s leadership since becoming CEO of Techcombank in 2020, during which time the bank has undergone a bold transformation. This includes significant investment in digital banking platforms, data and AI capabilities, and talent development. These initiatives have driven strong financial performance and profitability.
“I am delighted that Techcombank has won the award for Best Managed Bank in Vietnam, which recognises the excellence and commitment of the entire management team, as well as every single Techcombank employee who have all contributed to the Bank’s success," said Mr. Lottner. "I am also greatly honoured to have been named the Best Bank CEO in Vietnam by The Asian Banker and its distinguished Council of Advisors."

Through product innovation, hyper-personalised experiences, and seamless integration with ecosystem partners in real estate, insurance, and wealth management, we are redefining banking in Vietnam.”

The dual awards recognise Techcombank’s sustained growth and profitability, along with its strong balance sheet and asset quality since 2020. As of the end of 2024, the bank reported the highest five-year average return on assets (ROA) among Vietnamese banks and maintained a leading risk profile, as reflected in its top-tier credit ratings.
In the second quarter of 2025, Techcombank posted its highest-ever quarterly profit before tax at VND7.9 trillion ($303.85 million), underlining the continued success of its transformation strategy and benefiting from Vietnam’s robust economic momentum.
Mr. Lottner’s selection as Best Bank CEO In Vietnam was based on The Asian Banker’s in-depth analysis of Techcombank’s performance and strategy, as well as peer feedback. The final decision was made by the Council of Advisors chaired by Mr. Alain Chevalier, Professor of Finance at ESCP Europe.
“It is the opinion of the Vouncil that the leadership of Mr. Jens Lottner has been exceptional in guiding Techcombank through a transformative journey,” said Mr. Chevalier. “He has overseen significant technological advancements, including a market-leading digital banking platform, advanced AI capabilities, and a ‘data brain’ system for hyper-personalised customer experiences. His ecosystem strategy has also expanded partnerships in real estate and insurance, creating seamless journeys and innovative offerings.”
The awards also recognised strategic breakthroughs at Techcombank, including its industry-leading Brand Equity Index at the end of 2024. The bank also ranked first in transaction banking based on market share and achieved an all-time high CASA balance.
Under Mr. Lottner’s leadership, Techcombank has also deepened its commitment to sustainability by expanding green credit and becoming the first private bank in Vietnam to introduce a Green Bond Framework and issue a Green Bond aligned with International Capital Market Association (ICMA) standards.
"At a time when Vietnam is embarking on a major transformation, to upgrade and upskill its economic model, these awards have given us fresh inspiration to continue our journey and play a leading role in Vietnam’s new era of growth," said Mr. Lottner. "Techcombank is now a central pillar of Vietnam’s financial industry and one that is well placed to realise our vision 'Change Banking, Change Lives' and contribute to the sustainable development of the nation."
