The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap exported nearly 1.4 tons of rice

The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap recorded $865 million from exporting over 1.36 million tons of rice this year, according to its Department of Industry and Trade.

The province's rice export turnover this year increased by 57.59% year-on-year and equivalent to 227.67% of the annual target, as a result.

The turnover brought the total export value recorded by the province in 2024 to $2 billion, marking a significant growth of over 53% compared to last year,

Rice export growth was attributed to enterprises’ efforts in improving rice quality and processing technology to meet demand of import markets, according to Ms. Vo Phuong Thuy, Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

There are 174 enterprises in the province operating in rice processing.

The province’s total rice cultivation area in 2024 is estimated at over 495,000 ha.
